Wedge Club Right
Are the Titleist AP1 irons the right clubs for me?
I am looking to buy some new irons, but can't decide between the Titleist AP1 irons, and the TaylorMade R9 irons.
I like the look of both of them, but i want the AP1 irons a little more, because if have Titleist Wedges.
Based on the following information, do you think the Titleist AP1s are the right irons for me? Or am i better off getting the TaylorMade R9 irons?
About Me:
14 years old, 5'10", 115 lbs
I have a little over 15 handicap
My strong points-Irons and chips
My weak points-Driving it consistently
I usually hit the ball solid, but will slice one day, hit it straight the next, and then hook it the next day
PS: You may think that my parents are crazy to buy me that expensive of clubs, but i am the one paying for them. And yes i know that they are expensive for a kid my age, but i play golf everyday. I am so obsessed with the game that i am willing to spend a lot of money.
I have the first version of the AP-1's and can't say enough good things about them. Don't listen to the first answer-er on here...they just weren't good clubs for HIM! BUT...there's one answer on here that had it right....go get fitted. If the AP-1's turn out to be the best iron for you..then great! But if you were willing to spend the $$ for a nice set, spend the extra to get fitted....it'll serve you better than just buying a set and you'll get a set made just for you!
