Steel Stiff Shaft
Do i need regular or stiff steel golf shafts?
I hit my 5 iron 200 into the wind with no roll today, all my irons are offset with regular steel shafts and i hit down on ball pretty well, I take 4-8 inch divots. I was just wondering if you guys could suggest what kind of shaft I need stiff or regular steel, as well as suggestions on what type of shaft what brand of head. I am going to buy a new set.
It appears that you need stiff shafts. But are you able to hit the ball straight? If you are able to hit it straight with regular shafts then you should stay with them. If the shaft is too soft then you should get some hooking or pulls on your balls. I would suggest staying with steel shafts, graphite offers less feel. Dynamic gold shafts are the standard for most. the S300 or S400 would work good. 300 and 400 is the weight. S stands for stiff. Another really great shaft especially for people who hit down on the ball are Project X. They're great but they don't usually come standard except on a few pretty high end irons. I suggest Project X 5.0-6.5 (stiffness). If you are getting an entire new set of irons then I suggest getting fitted. There's no reason to pay the extra money if you're not able to notice the difference. Good luck.
